Alternative Fee Arrangements
From many years of reviewing legal bills from outside counsel, Linda Feuss had grown to understand the weaknesses in the traditional billable-hour approach to legal fees. By paying for legal service based on how long a project takes, rather than on efficiency and outcome, the traditional model creates a subtle conflict between the client’s interests and the attorney’s. For this reason, Linda does not use the billable-hour model, but instead bases her fees on the value of the project undertaken. Clients agree up front what a reasonable fee for a project should be.
